[Class 35] The stator of a generator having a permanent magnet rotor 1 has poles 5 whose faces 4 constitute a substantially closed cylindrical surface and whose crosssection throughout their length is equal to the projection of the pole face on this section. As shown for a four-pole machine, the stator is made up of alternate pairs of laminae stacked mutually at right angles to enclose preformed coils 6. The spaces between the polar laminae may be filled with non-magnetic material.
