[Class 35] A dynamo, particularly for cycles, comprises a rotary permanent magnet having a length greater than its diameter and surrounded by an armature having elongated imbricated polepieces. In the form shown, the end discs 3, 4 fit in the ends of a cylindrical tube to form the armature core and the winding is disposed between said tube and the polepieces 5, 51. The disc 3 is secured to a bearing sleeve 6 for the magnet shaft. In a modification, the parts 3, 5, 6 are made, preferably by casting, in one piece with the casing.
