Abstract

509,926. Cylinders. BUSSING-NAG VEREINIGTE NUTZKRAFTWAGEN AKT.- GES. Dec. 20, 1937, Nos. 35173, 35174 and 35175. Convention dates, Jan. 21, 1937, Jan. 21, 1937, and Nov. 29, 1937. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 20, 1938.] [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke engine cylinder provided with uniflow scavenging, a single row of pistoncontrolled admission ports is arranged so that one or more of them are directed radially downwardly into a hollow piston head, while others are tangential. In Figs. 1, 4 radial and tangential ports are arranged alternately in two groups 1 ... 11 and 2 ... 12, the ports 1 ... 11, at a lower level, being controlled by slots in the piston so that all the ports are opened simultaneously. The top and bottom walls of one set, e.g. the ports 1 . . . 11 are differently inclined as shown, those of the other set being transverse. Figs. 11, 12, 13 show a further arrangement for a cylinder having an eccentric cavity 50 in the piston, Fig. 13, comprising sections through the numbered ports. In a further arrangement, three equallyspaced radial ports are directed into a piston cavity, the remainder being tangential ports, directed upwards. The piston controlling the ports may be one of a pair of opposed pistons. Specification 437,584 is referred to.
