Abstract

507,729. Two-stroke engines; pumps. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Oct. 31, 1938, No. 31469. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1937. [Class 7 (ii)] A two-stroke engine cylinder 1 is supplied with scavenging air by an axial-flow rotary pump 3, and with charging air by a centrifugal pump 8, the supply being controlled by an engine-driven valve 12. The pump 8 preferably receives its air from the pump 3 through a connecting pipe 9 and the pumps maybe driven by a single exhaust-driven 1 turbirie 4 or by separate turbines; alternatively they may be driven from an extraneous source of power. Specification 413,891 is referred to.
