Abstract

506,659. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and OLIVER, A. L. Dec. 1, 1937, No. 33251. [Class 40 (v)] In an amplifier remotely controlled by varying negative feedback by means of a variable impedance in the' cathode lead the output is taken between earth and a tapping on a potentiometer connected between the anode and the cathode. The Figure shows the volume control resistance VR and a condenser 20 which may be associated with the potentiometer 14 to compensate for the capacity of the cable IC, OC. With the volume control resistance at maximum value the tap 16 on the potentiometer 14 is adjusted for zero volume as the grid and anode are in opposite phase. When this adjustment has been made gain control is effected by resistance VR.
