C. ; 54, Tower Hill Road, Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Nov. 3, 1933, No. 30586. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1932. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] In an automatic volume control circuit the controlled valve 7 has two grids 2, 3 positioned between the normal control grid 4 and the cathode 1. The grids 2, 3 are preferably coplanar and one of them 3 is biassed positively while the other 2 has negative gain controlling potentials applied thereto from the anode impedance 20 of a valve 18 amplifying the D.C. output of a gain control rectifier 14. A screening grid 5 is also provided.
