Abstract
505,586. Supply systems for discharge lamps. SOC. ANON. POUR LES APPLICATIONS DE L'ELECTRICITE ET DES GAZ RARES ETABLISSEMENTS CLAUDE-PAX & SILVA. Nov. 12, 1937, No. 31180. Convention date; Aug. 24. [Class 38 (iv)] A discharge tube 1 is supplied from A.C. mains 3 through an inductance coil 2, at least one auxiliary circuit comprising an inductance coil 5 and a condenser 4 being connected in parallel with the tube 1, resonance being arranged to take place to ensure starting of the tube. At least one of the inductances may be provided with a ferro-magnetic core. If the inductance 5 is provided with a ferro-magnetic core this core is arranged to be saturated so long as the tube 1 has not started. Mutual inductance may be established between the windings of at least any two of the inductances. The inductanee of coil 5 is low in relation to that of coil 2.
