Abstract

504,705. Hot-water systems. KRUPP GERMANIAWERFT AKT.-GES., F. Oct. 28, 1938, No. 31210. Convention date, Dec. 2, 1937. [Class 64 (ii)] A hot-water system for use on board ship comprises a pipe circuit b including heaters s, connected in parallel with the circuit and through which pass the exhaust gases of internal-combustion engines, an air vessel e, thermostat g, consumers u, and a three-way valve h controlled by the thermostat for diverting the flow through a cooler m when the temperature in the-circuit reaches a predetermined value. By this arrangement the temperature of the water is maintained at a value, e.g. 30 to 40‹ C., suitable for use without the addition of cold water. The cooler m, through which the cooling water of auxiliary engines may be passed, is provided with a cold-water supply pipe n having a non-return valve o, and the air vessel with a compressed air supply pipe f. When the pressure in the circuit falls due to the withdrawal of water therefrom cold water is admitted from the pipe n until the pressure in the circuit reaches that in the pipe n.
