[Class 35] In an electric motor each of a pair of oppositely arranged stator poles is shaped to subtend a longer air gap or to pro vide a wider air gap at one side of a transverse centre line through the poles and armature than at the other side. In the form shown, the armature c is urged against the right-hand side of its bearings by enlarging the pole tips d on that side of the machine. Alternatively, the air gap between the other two pole tips and the armature may be increased.
