Abstract
501,143. Gas burners. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and CROSLAND, E. M. Aug. 27, 1937, No. 23489. [Class 75 (i)] A gas burner, particularly for bakers' ovens and the like, comprises half pipe sections 2, 3 having flanges 4, 5 between which are disposed two micro-plates 10 on either side of a pair of thick intermediate plates 6 lying in the same plane, the plates 6, 10 having castellated edges 8, 12 so that tortuous gas passages are formed from the inside of the pipe to the burner orifices formed by the castellations of the plates 10. The thickness of the plates 10 is of the order of À025 inch. The plates 10 are provided with gas apertures 14, the size of which may be varied to control the amount of gas passing to the burner orifices, and the apertures may be larger, or more closely spaced, at the outer end of the pipe so as to obtain a uniform heating effect along the pipe. The plates 6, 10 may be riveted or welded together and secured with the pipe sections 2, 3 by bolts passing through the latter and through, holes in the plates 10.
