[Class 126] A deflector or radiant supported at opposite ends on the hot-plate bars 2 adjacent the grilling burner 1 of a gas stove is so constructed that it may be adapted to suit carrier bars of different forms and arranged at different distances apart. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the radiant comprises two superposed apertured metal plates 3, 4 having staggered ribs 5, 6 on their abutting faces and slidable relatively to each other to vary the length of the radiant, the plates being secured in the adjusted position by a nut 12 screwed on to bolt 10 which projects upwardly 'from the plate 4 through a slot 11 in the plate 3. The ribs 5, 6 are separated by narrow clearances 9, Fig. 6, which permits the hot gases to pass through the apertures 8 in the lower plate 4, up the passages 9, and out through the openings 7 in the upper plate 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, the relatively adjustable plates 18, 19, instead of carrying supporting pins or trunnions 17, are formed at their ends with a number of lugs 20 having aligned notches 22 in their upper and lower faces so that one or more may be broken off to suit various forms of carrier bar.
