457,749. Exhaust - silencers and the like. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AKT. - GES., 7, Stadtbachstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. July 21, 1936, No. 20205. Convention date, July 22, 1935. [Class 7 (ii)] Relates to silencers, particularly for internal-combustion engines, of the type comprising a through passage communicating with lateral damping-chambers 2 by means of apertures, and consists in forming the passage by means of spaced tubular sections 1 connected by welded-on, flat, iron cross-members 5 bridging the intermediate spaces and preferably arranged edgewise ; the apertures 4 thus formed may be covered over with wire gauze or perforated metal sheets. The members 5 may be arranged either on the outside or the inside of the tubes 1. A conical member 6 is arranged at the end of the through passage and projects beyond the casing as shown or is accommodated inside. The surfaces may be lined with sound-deadening material.
