Abstract
500,456. Cathode - ray tubes thermionic valves; wireless receiving circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BENJAMIN, M., and BALLANTINE, R. J. Dec. 17, 1937, Nos. 34997/37 and 419/38. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] In a tuning indicator for radio receiving apparatus having a luminescent screen 1 whose illumination is varied by a control electrode 5 connected to the anode 4 of a valve in the set, the bias applied to the screen is alternating preferably of 50 cycles per second ; a resistance connection 6 is provided between the screen and anode 6. The valve is a pentode with screen and suppressor grids 8, 9 so that over some considerable range of anode voltage, the anode current varies substantially linearly with that voltage. The luminescent material may be willemite with an admixture or backing of carbon as described in Specification 600,314. Specification 466,604 also is referred to:
