[Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A rotary liquid meter comprises a cupshaped casing 4 containing electromagnetic coils 6 having polepieces close to the tips of radial vanes 9 which are permanent magnets. Liquid passing through the meter impinges on the vanes to drive the rotor. The current generated is collected at terminals 7 and led to an instrument, the deviation of a pointer indicating the quantity of liquid flowing through the meter. The air gap is increased when the temperature of the surrounding air rises, by an axial displacement of the rotor spindle.
