[Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXVIII] A temperature indicator for the rotor of a turbine or other machine consists of an armature f of magnetic material with temperaturevariable permeability mounted on the rotor c so as to produce corresponding current variation in the winding d of an adjacent stationary permanent or electrically energized magnet a. The armature may comprise a ring with regularly spaced perforations or poles separated by non-variable material the current in the winding being indicated by a measuring instrument, or the ring may be solid, the winding being arranged in one arm of a bridge measuring-circuit. The ring may be of T-section, the leg of which passes between the pole pieces of the magnet. One or a number of short pieces may be used in place of the ring. The variations may be used to control a governor of the supply of working or cooling fluid to the turbine.
