Abstract
A hard metal alloy comprises more than 30 and less than 50 per cent of one or more metals of the iron group, 2-10 per cent of chromium, the remainder consisting of titanium carbide and tungsten carbide in a ratio between 1 : 2 and 1 : 0,5. At least two metals of the iron group, one of which is iron itself, may be present, and bodies formed of the metal may be hardened by heat-treatment, for example by heating to 1000-1200 DEG C. with subsequent quenching in oil.
