Abstract

492,908. Electricity supply. BATTERIES, Ltd., and DOWSETT, G. H. April 5, 1937, No. 9539. [Class 38 (iv)] Substituting sources in service.-Emergency electric supply apparatus in which, on failure of the mains, a battery supplies lamps &c., is provided with a manually controlled master switch having three to six settings for opening and closing in various combinations, the main supply circuit and the several emergency circuits. The main A.C. circuit controlled by switch M supplies the primary a of a transformer having three secondaries b, d, e. Secondary e charges the battery through rectifers f when switch C is closed. Secondary d energizes coil h of relay g by which secondary b supplies a lighting circuit c<3>. When the main supply fails, switch g automatically connects circuit c<3> to the battery. Switches C, B and LT, when open, cut out respectively the charging circuit, the battery supply circuit to the lamp circuit c<3> and the main supply to the circuit c<3>. The master switch is of the rotary drum type and closes switches M, B, C, LT in various combinations, six different positions being shown in Fig. 2. In a modification, the emergency system is associated with D.C. mains.
