Abstract

538,673. Battery lamps. DANDRIDGE, G. F. J. April 1, 1940, No. 5802. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A transformer, electromagnetic switch and low power lamp are installed in a single fitting with an accumulator or dry battery to form a self-contained lighting unit which operates from supply mains until they fail whereupon the lamp is fed from the battery. The electromagnetic switch is connected across the secondary winding of the transformer and operates contacts between the lamp and the said winding and between the lamp and the battery. A double pole manual switch may control both lamp circuits simultaneously. A rectifier may be included to charge the battery when the mains are operative.
