Abstract

490,670. Speed governors. GREENWOOD, J. H., BLACOW, A., and BURNLEY, COLNE, & NELSON JOINT TRANSPORT COMMITTEE. Jan. 14,1937, No. 1092. [Class 57] The sleeve m of a maximum and minimum speed centrifugal governor k is connected to the control rod i of a fuel injection pump by a lever o pivoted on an eccentric p on a shaft q adjusted by a manually operated lever r. A spring- loaded stop a is arranged at the end of the control rod i and is positioned so that at normal running speeds, it engages the rod i at the same time or just before the lever r engages the stop s which allows the maximum normal running output of fuel to be delivered. The spring loading of the stop a is sufficient to limit the movement of the rod i under the force exerted by the idle running spring of the governor k. The stop a may be removed so that extra fuel is supplied for starting purposes. Specification 337,177, [Class 102 (i)], is referred to.
