486,995. Automatic guns. TENNANT, W. J. (Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Oerlikon) May 10, 1937, No. 13309. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to inertia-locked guns in which a front extension 4, Fig. 5, on the breech-block 7 enters a flared portion la of the cartridge chamber and has a lip-shaped projection 3 which sup. ports the base of the cartridge. According to the invention, the extension 4 carries above the projection 3 a pair of extractors 6, Fig. 3, which secure the base of the cartridge against the extension 4 when the cartridge case is being passed rearwardly to engage the ejector 12. The extractors comprise spring-pressed levers pivoted to the sides of the breech-block and at the front are shaped to engage the flare 1a when the breech is closed.
