Abstract

354,345. Machine guns. VICKERSARMSTRONGS, Ltd., LARSSON, C. A., and HIGSON, P. R., Vickers House, Broadway, Westminster. April 10, 1930, No. 11450. [Class 92 (ii).] A cartridge magazine B of the Lewis type has an inclined shoot B<2>, Fig. 3, leading to a plate B3 which positions the cartridges for extraction rearwardly by the breech-bolt x, Fig. 1, the plate being removable to allow of recharging the magazine from a hopper D<1>, Fig. 6, the magazine for this purpose being mounted on a recharging stand D for rotation on a horizontal axis. Dummy cartridges without extraction rims serve to propel the live cartridges in the shoot and remain in the shoot after the live cartridges have been extracted. The dummies are fed back into the magazine when recharging. The dummy cartridge opposite the extraction opening B<2x> is prevented from falling out by linking it to its neighbour. Specification 350,892 is referred to.
