356,839. Ordnance. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., Vickers House, Broadway, Westminster. June 21, 1930, No. 19014. [Class 92 (ii).] Adapting for miniature ammunition practice.- An aiming-tube C for use with a parent gun A having breech-mechanism of the screw-carrier type is adapted for use with fixed ammunition by providing the tube with a flange C<1> to engage the interrupted threads in the front part of the screw chamber of the parent gun. Further, the parent screw is replaced by a locking member D which engages the threads in the rear part of the screw chamber and projects through the flange to engage the cartridge case in the aiming tube. The main extractor is replaced by a channel-section frame F which passes through a hole in the flange C<1> to retain the aiming-tube and the frame carries a pivoted extractor G for the practice case. The aiming-tube may be unseated by reinstating the ordinary extractor. The practice cartridge is fired by the firing-pin E of the parent gun. Specification 331,994, [Class 92 (ii), Ordnance &c.], is referred to.
