483,330. Valve bags. CLAYTON, C. E. EVERY-. (Smidth & Co. Aktieselskabet, F. L.) Oct. 17, 1936, No. 28321. [Class 94 (ii)] In a block - bottom valve bag, in which the bottom side-flaps and end flaps are formed by slitting at a one or more of the plies parallel to the axis of the bag tube before feeding, one or more external cornerreinforcing strips 1 are pasted &c. to the bag bottom, the strip or strips 1 being wider than the distance b-b (between the ends of the incisions a) and extending laterally of the bag beyond those incisions. One such strip may extend across the bag bottom to cover both corner folds. In a modification, in addition, an internal valvereinforcing strip is provided, which is attached to the strip 1 outside the valve. In a further modification, the external and internal reinforcing strips may be formed in one piece. After filling, the valve may be sealed by securing the end of the reinforcing strip to the lower valve flap.
