Abstract
482,958. Electrodeposition of zinc. GRASSELLI CHEMICAL CO., and WESTBROOK, L. R. Oct. 7, 1936, Nos. 27273 and 27274. [Class 41] Cyanide zinc baths are treated with one or more finely divided metals between lead and magnesium in the electromotive force series, in order to remove traces of electropositive metals such as lead or copper. The metal employed is preferably zinc either alone or together with another of the selected metals. Detailed examples are given for the purification of baths by means of zinc and tin and by means of aluminium, iron and molybdenum or mixtures of these metals with zinc. Small quantities of the added metal may in some cases be present in the deposit. The deposits may be subjected to bright dipping. Specification 474,449 is referred to.
