525,033. Electrolytic production of coatings on magnesium and alloys thereof. FRASCH, J. Feb. 13, 1939, No. 4638. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1938. [Class 41] Corrosion-resistant coatings are produced on magnesium and its alloys by treating the metal electrolytically with alternating current in a bath of chromic acid which may contain sulphuric acid and chromium sulphate. The bath has a pickling action on the metal, so that pickling and protective treatment take place simultaneously. The coating may be treated with paraffin, paint &c.
