Abstract
480,711. Cathode - ray tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and LEVIN, N. Aug. 27, 1936, No. 23578. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube has a multiple anode electron lens system consisting of a first anode with an apertured plate and a plurality of further anodes each in the form of a cylinder closed by apertured plates, and the anodes are mounted so that the apertured plates are adjacent each other in pairs, the aperture of that plate of a pair which is remote from the cathode being larger than the aperture of the other plate of the pair. In one form, the first anode 3 is arranged close to the cathode 1, and the anodes 4, 10 closed by plates 5, 6 and 11, 12 are spaced along the beam by thin mica sheets 9, 13. The apertures 7, 14 are larger than the apertures 2, 8 respectively. Typical values of voltages, dimensions, spacings and aperture diameters are given. The invention is particularly applicable to high-vacuum tubes with fluorescent screens working with from 500 to 1000 volts on the final anode 10,' and a modulating electrode may be arranged between the cathode 1 and anode 3.
