Abstract
478,211. Wireless systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. July 13, 1936, Nos. 19457 and 19458. Convention dates, July 13, 1935 and July 17, 1935. [Class 40 (v)] The impedances of a H.F. transmission line and a load, such as a radiating aerial, are matched at more than one operating frequency, an extra matching impedance being inserted for each additional frequency by switching or being permanently connected but inoperative on selected frequencies. In one embodiment the inductance 3, is connected across the line 2, and the line and load 1 are matched thereby at a first frequency. For matching at a second frequency the switch 4 is moved to add an inductance 5. The method may be applied to systems using more than two different frequencies ; the switches may be remotely controlled and the impedances may comprise single or double line sections, capacities &c. In other embodiments line sections &c. are connected permanently to the line at calculated positions and arranged to present an infinite impedance to the frequencies other than that for which they are provided for matching purposes.
