Abstract

470,543. Phase changing. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 21, 1936, No. 28665. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1935. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] Relates to a network for varying the phase but not the amplitude of an oscillation, of the kind comprising an inductance or other reactance L shunted by a variable condenser or other reactance C in series with a resistance R, the input being applied across terminals c, d, while the output is taken from terminals a, b, so that by varying the condenser C the phase can be shifted through any fraction of 180‹, and by means of a reversing-switch S the range of variation can be doubled. According to the invention the output terminal a is connected through the transformer coil L<1> to the junction of C and R, the mutual inductance of Land L' being half the self-inductance of L. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the coil L<1> is connected between the terminal a and the end e of the coil L.
