Abstract
477,996. Cables. PIRELLI-GENERAL CABLE WORKS, Ltd., and MARTINEZ, G. July 9, 1936, No. 18993. [Class 361 A coaxial cable of the airspace insulation type comprises a stranded inner conductor 1 separated from a stranded outer conductor 4 by spacers 2 which are interposed between the strands of the inner conductor. The outer conductor, which is stranded over an open helical winding 3 of metal strip, is bound by an open winding of copper tape 5 over which, preferably with the interposition of light insulation, is applied a lead alloy sheath 6. The spacers 2 are formed with legs radiating from a common central axis, the number of legs preferably being the same as the number of strands of the inner conductor. The spacers shown at A-C in Fig. 3 are suitable for use with an inner conductor consisting of three strands whilst those shown at D and E may be used when the inner conductor is formed of four and two strands respectively.
