Abstract

300,899. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. Nov. 19, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 294,570. Armouring cables.-A deepsea submarine cable of the type described in the parent Specification is formed with a tubular cover of round or shaped wire or metal bands provided with an internal support member which separates the conductors of each speech direction. In the embodiment, a supporting I-shaped metal band 1 is twisted about its longitudinal axis and is surrounded with shaped wires 2. The conductors 3, 4 of opposite speech direction respectively are separated by the band 1. A tape winding 5 and lead sheath 6 cover the wires 2. In a modified construction a Y-shaped supporting member is provided. In the third compartment thus formed, current circuits for special purposes may be arranged.
