Abstract

512,670. Cables. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. March 3, 1938, No. 6729. Convention date, March 4, 1937. [Class 36] A high frequency cable comprises two or more lines each having an inner conductor surrounded by an outer conductor, preferably air-spaced therefrom, the outer conductors being of semi-circular or sector-shaped crosssection and the lines being so combined as to form a cable of substantially circular crosssection. The inner conductors may be circular or may correspond in cross-section with the outer conductors. The outer conductors 17 may abut, Fig. 4, or may be separated by spiral quads 20 and surrounded by an insulating band winding 21 and jacket 22, Fig. 5. In another form, Fig. 6, the outer conductors 24 are separated by a conducting and, if desired, magnetisable screen 25 and surrounded by a conducting or insulating band winding 26, a layer 27 of spiral quads and stranded pairs, an insulating band winding 28 and a jacket 29. The outer conductors may be built up of bands 30, 31, Figs. 7, 8, having grooves 32 and held together by a conducting winding 33. The grooves 32 may be staggered, as shown, or coincident, in which case slipping may be prevented in the manner described in Specification 490,243. The inner conductor may be of copper and the outer of aluminium.
