Abstract
477,070. Lubricating-pumps. STEVENS, A. H. (Cities Service Oil Co.) Jan. 7, 1937, No. 525. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a lubricating- apparatus of the type in which a h.p. pump 9, supplied from a container 2, is operated by a fluidpressure motor 16, the motive fluid is distributed to the cylinder 16 by a valve 24, in the form of a sliding bolt having a longitudinal passage 35 and lateral ports 36. The valve slides through a chamber. 37, which comnnmicates by a pipe 22 with the cylinder 16, and the valve serves to put the chamber 37 into communication alternately with the atmosphere through a port 43 and with a compressed-air pipe 20. The pipe 20 is supplied by a hose 6, which also supplies air to the space above the lubricant in the container 1. The piston in the cylinder 16 carries a channel iron 23, which slides on a projection 25 on the valve casing. The valve 24 rests on a lever 26, which is pivoted to the projection 25, and is connected by springs 31 to the projection 23, the reciprocations of the latter thus reversing the valve. The suction stroke may be effected by a spring or, alternatively, the cylinder 16 may be double-acting. The pump 9 and the container 1 are mounted on a movable platform.
