[Class 102 (i)] A reciprocating hand pump comprises a vertical cylinder a cast integrally on its opposite sides with suction and delivery valve chests b, c with an inlet and an outlet n, upper and lower end covers i forming passages connecting the ends of the cylinder with pairs of spring- loaded inlet and outlet valves g, k, a piston s, and a piston rod t passing through a gland u in the upper end cover and connected at its outer end to manually operable means v, w for reciprocating the piston, the upper part of the suction valve chest b and an extension p of the upper end cover i above the delivery valve chest c both serving as air-cushion chambers. The operating lever v may be fitted with a handle x at each end.
