Abstract
474,904. Combing - machines. SACHSISCHE TEXTILMASCHINEN - FABRIK VORM. R. HARTMANN AKT.-GES. March 9, 1936, No. 7042. Convention date, April 24, 1935. [Class 120 (i)] In a Heilmann combing-machine having fixed detaching and drawing-off rollers b, Fig. 1, and wherein the feed grid d is given an extra reciprocation, variable in size, additional to the to-and-fro feeding movements the additional reciprocation is arranged to begin with either a forward or backward movement. The additional movement is imparted by a cam i acting through a double lever o having adjustable stops p, q which act on the upper arm of the double lever k through which the cam h imparts the feeding movement to the feed grid d. A roller m on the lever k is maintained in engagement with the lower arm of the double lever n connected to the feed grid d, by a helical spring r. To increase the length of the fibre tuft, as shown in Fig. 1, the cam i acts first and causes the movement I, Fig. 2. The comb e is then raised and the cam h acts to withdraw the grid d, as II, Fig. 3. The comb e is then lowered again and the grid drawn back to the extent of the additional movement by the cam i, as III, Fig. 4, and immediately thereafter or following a slight pause the feed movement IV, Fig. 5, is caused by the cam h. Alternatively the extra reciprocation may begin with a backward movement.
