Abstract

431,166. Gill boxes. KELSO, W. A., 32, Taunton Avenue, Belfast. March 8, 1934, No. 7339. [Class 120 (i)] A faller-bar receiving motion is provided in a gill box or frame for treating flax, hemp, jute, cotton, &c., comprising a revolving cam A, Fig. 1, centrally disposed in the path of the descending faller F and shaped with an eccentric member a<1> and lateral concentric member a, Fig. 6, to receive and control the movement of the faller bar during its whole descent and deliver it smoothly on to the lower slides s. A flat cleaning blade B having a vertical reciprocating movement in synchronism with the receiving motion and faller bars is provided to clear short fibres, tow &c. from the fallers F and gill pins P. The cam A is mounted on the end of a transverse shaft C whilst the cleaning blade B is mounted on a frame G on the end of a bar or lever J, Fig. 4, and is reciprocated vertically in front of the fallers F by a connecting-rod R and crank-pin R<1> projecting from the face of the cam A. The blade B commences its upward stroke as the faller F starts to move down on the path a<1>. If desired the receiving cam may be operated independently of the cleaning-blade.
