Abstract

230,735. Reik, H. March 29, 1924, [Convention date]. Circular machines with a single knitting cam fcr use during circular or reciprocating knitting are provided with an auxiliary cam set or sets fcr use during circular knitting only, and consisting of a switch cam 2 and a cam 3 mounted with vertical adjustment on a base plate 1. When one auxiliary cam set is used, it is mounted diametrically opposite the main knitting cam. On the rear side of the plate 1 rods 14 connected by a yoke 20 and slidable in the frame 15 are mounted. A screw 26 working in the rods 14 and engaging a nut 25 on the back of the plate provides for circumferential adjustment. The cam set can be withdrawn, during reciprocation, by the action of a wedge-piece 21 on the yoke 20. The wedge is moved up or down at the appropriate time by an adjustable stop. When the wedge is moved up, springs 16 bring the cam 3 to bear against the circle of needle butts. A group of needles is provided with longer butts than the rest.
