739,723. Knitting-machines. DUBIED & CIE SOC. ANON., E. Nov. 25, 1952 [Jan. 25, 1952], No. 29865/52. Class 74 (2). In a machine having long and short butted needles 1, 2 and raising and lowering cams 15, 16 adjustable either to a position in which they engage all the butts or only the long butts, each needle 1, 2 is provided with a shoulder 4 and a recess 3 and a guard member 19 is mounted upon the cam slide 7 to engage either the recess 3, or as shown in Fig. 3 the shoulder 4, to prevent unwanted longitudinal movement of the needles as they approach the clearing cam 12. The shoulder and recess may be arranged below the knitting butt 2<SP>1</SP>.
