559,543. Knitting-machines. BENTLEY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., BROOKSBY, E., and DEANS, F. E. July 20, 1942, Nos. 6661/43 and 6983/43. Divided out of 559,533. [Class 74 (ii)] A loop transfer instrument for a knitting- machine has a body part 19 received within the needle trick and a sheath portion 20 near its end to embrace the needle 17, and is so shaped at its end-that when if is moved to enter a loop: held by the needle the loop is expanded and held so that when subsequently another needle is moved into the sheath the loop can readily be taken. The body portion may, as shown, be arranged behind the needle or alternatively may be arranged at the front of the needle. In the form of instrument shown, the sheath portion 20 is normally disposed behind the needle; a cam surface 25 arranged on the sinker ring engages a projected instrument to cause the sheath to embrace the needle. The needle-cam system may be as described in Specification 559,533.
