Abstract
463,635. Knitting. BRINTON CO., H. Oct. 1, 1935, No. 27122. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1934. [Class 74 (ii)] A design wheel, preferably for use in circular machines with independent needles, comprises in combination means serving to raise needles selectively from a first operative level to a second and /or third operative level as required. The wheel comprises inserts 132, displaced axially thereof and held in place by plates 123, 124, 126, the plates 123, 124 being toothed at their peripheries. Needles approaching at welt level 143, on the filling cam 113, may be raised selectively by a raising cam 114 and the design wheel to tuck level 140 or knitting level 141, to be operated by the stitch cam 112, according as an insert in the lower or upper part of the design wheel becomes operative on the butts thereof. Also, certain needles may be passed through at idle level 142, being depressed therefrom to welt level 145 by a depressing cam 144. Specification 21523/12, [Class 74 (ii)], is referred to.
