Abstract
816,171. Selecting threads from an end- and-end lease. WOOL INDUSTRIES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. June 24, 1955 [March 24, 1954], No. 8547/54. Class 142(1) Yarns arranged in an end-and-end lease are selected by two mechanisms 9 (only one mechanism is shown in Fig. 1) reciprocating above and to each side of the line x of the lease and by a secondary machanism 34 positioned at a distance from one lease rod along the warp threads. When one mechanism 9 advances, a stop piece 18 (Fig. 2) restrains threads a1, a2, a3 and a thread a previously selected is being drawn back by the other, receding, mechanism 9. On further forward movement of the first mechanism 9, yarns a2, a3 are engaged by a recess 2 in a part 1, the stop piece 18 is lifted, and yarn a1 springs back towards a member 5. A part 3 is swung down by a roller 17 engaging a cam 16 and the parts 1 and 3 are latched together. The mechanism 9 now recedes and the yarn a1 is moved by a barb 4 on the part 3 towards a barb 7. The yarn a previously selected is moved back from barb 7 to barb 8 by a notch 6 on the part 1. The secondary mechanism 34 moves downwards and rearwards and also moves the yarn a at a point further from the lease crossing x. When the mechanism 9 reaches its rearmost position an edge 14 on part 1 engages a member 15 and part 1 is disengaged from part 3 and a spring 11. retracts the parts 1 and 3. The mechanisms 9 are reciprocated by arms 47 and cams 46 on a rotating shaft 23. The lower ends of the arms engage lugs 28 on the mechanisms 9. A further cam 38 on the shaft 23 moves the secondary mechanism 34 downwardly and rearwardly. The mechanisms 9 reciprocate on rods 25 mounted in a block 29 and rollers 31 carried by a framework 30 engage the lease rods and thereby locate the warp threads vertically.
