Abstract

473,471. Spray-producers. KIRSCHBAUM, E. April 7, 1937, No. 9882. Convention date, May 2, 1936. [Class 69 (iii)] An atomizer for use in the spray evaporation of liquids comprises a nozzle 1 fed with a stream of gas at high velocity having streams of liquid directed approximately at right-angles to the gaseous stream through channels 3 formed with sharp edges 5, the inclination of which is preferably on the inside face of the edge. In the form shown, the nozzle 1 may be rectangular in plan and the opening through which air passes at least 2 mm. longer than the liquid outlets. In a modification, the air nozzle is annular and liquid is delivered through channels radially to both the inside and outside edges of the air nozzle.
