Abstract

472,448. Photo - electric exposure meters. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Sept. 8, 1936, No. 24495. Convention date, March 11. [Class 40 (iii)] For limiting the light falling on the cell of a photo-electric exposure meter to rays having an angle of incidence not exceeding a predetermined limit, at least two transparent bodies having a definite refractive index are arranged in the light path, and are separated by a medium of lower refractive index. Two glass prisms 2, 3 may be arranged as shown in Fig. 1, relatively to the light-sensitive layer 1. A ray b is totally reflected at the lower surface of the body 2, while a ray c, equally but oppositely inclined to the normal, passes into the body 3, but is totally reflected at the lower surface thereof. Rays having an angle of incidence below a certain maximum pass through both the prisms. The prism 2 may be replaced by a cone fitting into a conical recess in a body which replaces the prism 3, the light emerging through a conical recess in the latter body. This arrangement may be modified as shown in Fig. 3, by the insertion of a third glass body 8 in the inner recess, the whole assemblage acting as a plane plate for rays which are not totally reflected. The outer body 6 may have a convex surface, to serve as a lens.
