Abstract

471,933. Fire-extinguishers. LEES, A., and KERMODE, H. T. March 16, 1936, No. 7794. [Class 47 (ii)] In a powder extinguisher of the kind in which the powder is discharged by compressed gas released from a container, the gas container B is carried removably inside the extinguisher by means of a boss C2 formed on the removable discharge nozzle C. The boss guides a piercer D adapted to be operated by a lever L<x>, and has ports C<4> for the escape of gas. The ports may deliver into a gas nozzle C<8>, and the discharge nozzle C may have the form shown in full. or in dotted lines. The base of the extinguisher has a cradle to support the gas container, and a safety valve. In a modification, the piercer is operated by a blow. In another modification, the gas container is carried centrally of the nozzle C by a spider secured thereto.
