Abstract
An electric insulating material, exhibiting low dielectric loss and low power factor at elevated temperature, comprises polyvinyl halide, a plasticizer and an oxide of lead, with or without an addition of finely-divided carbon black. The oxide of lead may be PbO, PbO2, Pb2O3 or Pb3O4. Preferably all the ingredients are mixed together and the mixture then compounded or milled under pressure and heat. Examples of compositions are given in which polyvinyl chloride is plasticized with tricresyl-phosphate. Specifications 398,091 and 461,101 are referred to.
