Abstract

Heat - resistant electrical insulation comprises a plasticized composition consisting of talc, mica, or like silicious substances, and an organo-silicon oxide polymer. A suitable composition consists of 25 parts by weight of organo-silicon oxide polymer loaded with silica and 75 parts by weight of talc. Inorganic fillers may be added to colour the composition. The composition may be mixed in a conventional mill or internal mixer, and during mixing the temperature is raised to at least 100 DEG C. to remove a proportion of the volatile matter from the polymer.
