532,425. Vinyl resin compositions. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 30, 1939, No. 24889. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1938. [Class 2 (iii)] An electrical insulating composition consists of a polyvinyl halide, a plasticizer and a small proportion of a lead salt of phenol, a lead salt of #-naphthol, or a lead salt of an alkyl or aryl nuclear substitution derivative of phenol or #-naphthol. A small proportion of finely divided carbon black may be incorporated in the composition. The ingredients are preferably compounded by milling on differential rollers, and the compositions may be aged by maintaining at an elevated temperature for a period of time. Examples are given of compositions consisting of polyvinyl chloride, tricresyl phosphate and the lead salt of phenol, ptertiary amyl phenol, #-naphthol, 1-tertiary amyl #-naphthol, o or p-phenyl phenol, 2-4 di-amyl phenol, or o ethyl phenol.
