Abstract

551,521. Methyl vinyl ketone. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. May 15, 1941, No. 6286. Convention date, June 4, 1940. [Class 2 (iii)] Methyl vinyl ketone is produced by the pyrolvsis of 3-acetoxy-2-butanone which may be prepared by the action of an alkali acetate on 3 chlor-2-butanone. The pyrolysis may be effected at 400-700‹C. and a heat-transferring agent such as copper may be present.
