Abstract

469,591. Lubricators. MUNFORD, T. A. S. Feb. 2, 1937, No. 3017. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XXX] A lubricator for the sides of rail heads comprises a carrier 1 running on rollers 2 and pivotally supporting a container 16 provided with a piston 17 which may be forced inwards to express the lubricant by rotating a sleeve 20 carrying a nut 21 engaging a threaded rod 22 on the piston. The lubricant is delivered through a tube 24 to a chamber 10 provided with ports 11 opening on to the side of the rail. A spreader 12 on the carrier spreads the lubricant. The spindles 3 on which the rollers 2 are mounted carry washers 7 held resiliently against the other side of the rail by springs surrounding the spindles and abutting on the frame of the carrier and on washers 4 fixed to the outer ends of the spindles. In another form, tube 24 is dispensed with, and the lubricant is delivered through the pipe 14 and a passage in its pivot to the chamber 10.
