Channels and reservoirs in vertical-shaft bearings.-In a spinning spindle bolster or other vertical or semi-vertical bearing, a splash chamber A formed with a free space around the spindle at the upper end of the bearing surface has a wall E interposing between the upper part of the chamber and the spindle, whereby lubricant is prevented from creeping up the spindle, and a lubricant chamber B formed around the upper part of the bearing communicates with the bearing surface by a passage C. A single lubricant chamber B may supply a series of bearings.
