Abstract

794,255. Continuous - - casting machines. BRITISH IRON & STEEL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. March 21, 1955 [March 19, 1954], No. 8087/54. Class 83 (1). A lubricator for distributing liquid-lubricant uniformly over the internal walls of a continuous-casting mould, is mounted on the mould in such manner that it may be readily detached therefrom for replacement or maintenance. The lubricator 18 seats on a step in the top of the mould-wall, with a narrow space formed between the surface 16 and the bottom of the lubricator. Lubricant, such as water, vegetable-oils, e.g. rape-seed oil, is supplied to a channel 20 by a pipe 22 and passes to the mouldwall through perforations 23.
